Introduction to Competition - Positional

Positional - Coaches will be taught basic and intermediate skills required to coach offensive, defensive or special teams position skills by an expert coach. The expert coach will also provide drill progressions, and will demonstrate how to incorporate these tools into practice plans.

Upon completing this module, coaches will be able to do the following:

  1. Plan a Practice
  2. Analyze Performance
  3. Provide support to athletes in training
  4. Make Ethical Decisions (MED)
  5. Position-specific technical material

After completion of the classroom portion of the Intro to Comp - Positional, coaches will need 6 hours of on field coaching with a elite level coach at their specific position ("In-Training"). Coaches can also attain the 6 hours through attending coaching clinics. Once the 6 hours is completed ("Trained"), the coach will need to be evaluated during one of their practices by a learning facilitator. When the evaluation is completed, the coach is now a certified Intro to Comp - Positional Coach ("Certified").

Introduction to Competition - Coordinator

Coordinator - NCCP’s Coordinator workshop teaches coaches what it takes to be a successful coordinator and how to develop offensive, defensive or special team systems all taught by an expert coach. Coaches will then learn how to apply what they have learned to their systems and how to develop successful game plans.

Upon completing this module, coaches will be credited with understanding:

  1. Mentorship skills
  2. Nutrition
  3. Analytical skills
  4. The role of the Coordinator
  5. Tactical systems

After completion of the classroom portion of the Intro to Comp - Coordinator, coaches will need 6 hours of on field coaching with a elite level coordinator coach at either Offense, Defense, or Special Teams ("In-Training"). Coaches can also attain the 6 hours through attending coaching clinics (O, D, or ST systems). Once the 6 hours is completed ("Trained"), the coach will need to be evaluated during one of their practices by a learning facilitator. When the evaluation is completed, the coach will need to submit a O, D, or ST playbook package and then will be a certified Intro to Comp - Coordinator Coach ("Certified").

  • At least "Trained" status in Intro to Comp - Positional Coach.
  • NCCP Safe Contact Workshop
  • Making Ethical Decisions (MED) Training

Introduction to Competition - Head Coach

Head Coach - NCCP’s Head Coach workshop teaches coaches what it takes to develop their role as a head coach, make training plans, manage a program, and learning to evaluate, all taught by an expert coach.

Upon completing this module, coaches will be credited with understanding:

  1. Role of the Head Coach
  2. Designing a Yearly Training Plan
  3. Managing a Football Program
  4. Evaluation of other Coaches

After completion of the classroom portion of the Intro to Comp - Head Coach, coaches will need to successfully complete a presentation on a topic related to program management.

Prerequisite for Intro to Comp - Head Coach:

  • Certified in 2 positions for Intro to Comp - Positional Coach.
  • At least "Trained" in Intro to Comp - Coordinator
  • NCCP Safe Contact Workshop
  • Making Ethical Decisions (MED) Training
