The 28th edition of the Ed Henick Senior Bowl takes place on May 21, 2012 in Saskatoon, with the first selection camp for team North to be held on April 1, 2012 in Saskatoon, and April 1, 2012 in Moose Jaw for Team South. These one day camps are conducted in each cities respective field house and have the same format. The morning session will consist of a series of tests that will be used to determine their athletic ability. The tests include a 40 yard time, a 20 yard time, vertical jump, shuttle run, standing broad jump and a bench press. Following a break for lunch, the camp will resume with the afternoon session consisting of position specific skills and drills. The intent of the Ed Henick Senior Bowl game is to showcase the best high school football players who have used their last year of eligibility in a North vs. South all-star game.
Every spring, Football Saskatchewan conducts eight regional skill identification camps. These camps are for high school football players currently in grades nine, ten and eleven and occur throughout the Province to ensure all players have a chance to participate. Through these camps, Football Saskatchewan serves a dual purpose of introducing, teaching, and enhancing fundamental football skills while identifying the athletic ability and skills of the participants.
Following the completion of all the camps, the elite coaches and Football Saskatchewan representatives will select the athletes to attend the Roughrider Bowl, May 19, 20, 21 in Saskatoon. The goal is to create a competitive environment and a successful camp for all those involved.
Camp Locations: Regina, Moose Jaw, Outlook, Foam Lake, Prince Albert, Unity, Melfort, Swift Current, Saskatoon.
